Top 10 Credit Crunch Proof Admin Jobs

Very few people in the UK have been unaffected by the credit crunch and there are lots of people who thought that they had very safe jobs who are now experiencing the pain of unemployment.  Certainly, the old concept of a job for life has long since disappeared.  But if you want a secure administration job, then which profession should you choose?

Well the first area that you may wish to consider is working in the public sector, for example Civil Service, local government or the national health service.  But no admin jobs are completely secure in these areas, although some are definitely safer than others.

Teachers, doctors, dentists and fire-fighters are all jobs that are needed no matter how bad the recession gets they all have administration work required.  So these 4 professions are all relatively safe.  Nursing as a career is also secure if you can gain employment, although nursing and the Fire Service are notoriously difficult to get into.  But once you have landed a job in any of these roles, then the future should look quite rosy.

IT professionals, particularly IT security professionals are pretty credit crunch proofed, due to the fact that their skills are indispensable to the successful running of almost every business in the country, so that is one area that is seriously worth considering as one in which to qualify.

Prison officers also find that the recession may not adversely affect them, other than any increases in crime may result in more prisoners being sent to them for guarding, so again, they are not as subject to redundancies as other firms agian they all require admin work.

The Police Service also tends to keep recruits for as long as they want to stay and it does not have a history of shedding jobs recently, although it can often shrink the size of the force through not replacing staff.

Opticians find that when people don’t have any money then tend not to get their eyes tested as often, but they will still get them tested, so although some jobs may be shed as a result of a recession or credit crunch, they are not as hard hit as other sectors of the employment field.

Ironically perhaps, the market for debt management advisers and all administration work that goes with it! tends to expand dramatically when times are tough, so jobs in debt management are to a certain extent ‘credit crunch proof’!  Perhaps this gives rise to the old saying that indeed every cloud does have a silver lining!

Skilled workers are the ones least affected with this recession thing. The most affected are those in the IT industry as well as in the construction industry.
