Despite the fact that the UK has been hard hit by the recession, there are lots of temping jobs out there in the UK, so long as you know where to look for them. The best way to start searching is actually to register or sign on with a recruitment agency, so one of their recruitment consultants can take you through the process of finding the job that is right for you.
This doesn’t have to be in person, you can sign up to an agency over the internet and they can still match you up with jobs that are suitable for your needs.
It is important to think about all different kinds of jobs when you are thinking about temping jobs, so don’t just think about jobs that are very glamorous or involve meeting lots of different new people. Positions such as a receptionist can still introduce you to lots of different people and you get to see how various companies operate, so you get the chance to see life from different sides. There are many recruitment agencies that specialise in areas such as receptionists.
Take time to ensure that your CV is up to date and that the recruitment agency is aware of just how flexible you can be: in that way you will find that you can get a good range of positions to choose from, rather than just being limited to the choice of one or two.
So times may be hard, but do not give up hope; there are lots of jobs out there, you just need to do a little research and then the job that you are ideally suited to can be yours! And do not forget, temping is a great way of exploring just what suits you in terms of employment, so you get to try out employers, not just have them give you a try!

Your CV plays a great part in applying jobs. CV should be straight to the point. HR people don’t have the time to scan your 10-page CV…make it concise yet impressive.
